Becoming a Vendor

We're always looking for new local items to sell in our shop!  Here's how it works:

  • OPTION 1: SPACE RENTAL - We rent out spaces (from single shelves to full shelf sections) for a monthly rental fee in three-month terms.  This is our favorite option, and we don't often vary from this one, but if you really don't think this would work for you, we might try...
  • OPTION 2: CONSIGNMENT or COMMISSION SALES - With this option, we receive a portion of the selling price of your items once they are sold.  Please keep in mind that we will only consider this option if you have a popular, strong-selling item, as we have very limited space that is not reserved for rental.

Here are the steps to becoming one of our vendors:

  • STEP #1 - ARE WE RIGHT FOR EACH OTHER?

At Olde Main Street Shoppes, Inc., we try to keep the products we sell within a certain framework of goals and ideals.  To see if our space is right for you, answer the following questions as honestly as possible.  If you answer yes to all of them, (or at least most of them), move on to step #2.

    • Does your business operate within 100 miles of Fultonville, NY?
    • Are your products made/grown within 100 miles of Fultonville, NY?
    • Excluding antiques or larger items (such as furniture), do your products sell for less than $25?
    • We are located in a small village, surrounded by farming community.  Do you feel your products would appeal to our local residents?
    • Fultonville is a quiet stopping place for many people on their way to somewhere else.  Do you feel your products would appeal to people traveling through our area?
    • Do you have a valid NYS tax ID number?  (Each of our vendors must have a valid NYS tax ID number.  If you do not have one, you may apply for one at www.nys-permits.org)
    • If you process food items to sell (preserves, baked goods, etc.) do you have a license to process food in NYS?  (Each of our food vendors who process food items must provide us with a copy of their license to keep on file.)  NOTE: This does NOT include fresh fruits and vegetables, which do not require a license.  However, we are currently not licensed to sell egg, dairy, or meat products.  If you are interested in selling items of this kind, please contact us.
  • STEP #2 - CONTACT US

Contact us to ask any additional questions you might have, get current pricing, let us know you're interested, and/or make an appointment to see the space.

  • STEP #3 - PICK A SPACE

Decide which space would work the best for you.  We rent full "units" (unit = floor-to-ceiling shelves with counter and drawers or bins), single shelves or drawers, empty floor space (for racks, furniture, etc.), and empty wall space (for pictures, wreaths, etc.).  (See below for a link to our store layout).

  • Step #4 - Sign a "rental" or "consignment" agreement

Read and sign our standard rental or consignment agreement.  Payments are due monthly, and the terms last for three months.  First rental payment is due by the date the agreement becomes effective.
  • STEP #5 - SET UP YOUR SPACE

Make an appointment to bring in your wares and set up your space.  (We try to do this before or after hours, so as not to distract our customers.  We make every effort to work with your schedule in arranging a time for setup.)

  • Step # 6 - ADVERTISING

We list each of our vendors here on our web site.  If you'd like to be listed, send us the information you'd like to see on our site.  You can include pictures, a link to your web site, a bio of owners, etc.

We also like to set up events with our vendors, such as booksignings, demonstrations, workshops, etc.  If you'd like to schedule an event to be held at our store, please let us know.
